\u2693 Who We Are<\/h3>\n

The Global Seafarers Union of India (GSUI)<\/strong> is a registered labour union formed with the goal of uplifting, protecting, and empowering Indian seafarers<\/strong>, while also contributing to the holistic development of the maritime industry<\/strong>. Registered under the Labour Union Act on 4th March 2022<\/strong>, GSUI functions as a national-level organization working to balance the rights of workers and the responsibilities of employers in the shipping and port sectors.<\/p>\n

Unlike conventional unions, GSUI believes in collaborative change<\/strong>, working not just for seafarers<\/strong>, but also with shipping companies, training institutes, and government agencies<\/strong> to ensure a healthy, equitable, and forward-looking maritime ecosystem.<\/p>\n

To be the leading voice for seafarers, shipping companies, and maritime authorities<\/strong>, fostering a maritime ecosystem rooted in justice, development, and shared responsibility<\/strong> \u2014 locally, nationally, and globally.<\/p>\n

  • To safeguard the rights<\/strong> and welfare of Indian seafarers across domestic and international waters<\/li>\n
  • To collaborate with companies<\/strong> to improve working conditions, contracts, welfare programs, and grievance redressal mechanisms<\/li>\n
  • To partner with government agencies<\/strong> in shaping and refining policies that support sustainable maritime growth and fair labour practices<\/li>\n
  • To raise public awareness<\/strong> about the contribution and challenges faced by maritime workers<\/li>\n
  • To build solidarity<\/strong> across the seafaring community while promoting transparency, safety, and dignity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \ud83e\udd1d Our Approach: Partnership for Progress<\/h3>\n

    GSUI positions itself as a bridge between seafarers, employers, and the government<\/strong> \u2014 advocating for policies and practices that promote mutual respect, professional dignity, and systemic reforms<\/strong>. We believe that true industry progress comes from shared dialogue<\/strong>, not division.<\/p>\n

    We are actively engaged in:<\/p>\n

    • Policy recommendation to government bodies such as DG Shipping, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways<\/strong>, and Labour Departments<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Working group participation for seafarer welfare schemes and shipping reform<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Liaison with port authorities, maritime training institutes, and CSR bodies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
